In a remote mountain village, sisters Šarlota and Tamara endure their abusive mother. After Šarlota escapes into the woods, a Roma woman named Otyla is blamed for their disappearance and accused of witchcraft. Twenty years later, Šarlota returns and investigates her past, arousing local suspicion. Only Mira, a young herbalist, befriends her. When village animals fall ill, the locals accuse Šarlota of summoning Otyla's spirit.
